I'm Against Daylight Saving Time

 Opinion

   Standard Time , Please

Daylight Saving Time was one of the worst tricks to ever be placed on people since the other bad things we placed upon ourselves.  We didn't even standardize time until 1883. It could be anytime zone you wanted it and people just had to accept it. It's 5:31pm in Saint Paul but 6:09pm in Minneapolis ...good. Anyway, the trains did all that, and the world standardized time. Good.

Back to Daylight Saving Time. Don't blame Ben Franklin for this dumb tradition, he was joking. Apparently, it's either people in later years couldn't read jokes any more or they just wanted to scapegoat a dead guy, and I hope he haunted them until their final breathes.

This is going from an American view, so sorry non-American country readers, though many of you would live in a country sane enough to not do Daylight Saving time.

So here's a dumb idea: hey it's 2am, nah, screw you , it's 3AM now, and there's nothing you can do about it. Why? Beacuse someone said let's do this every year, in 2007, they even moved it up to the 2nd Sunday of March, which for something called Spring forward, sure takes up time before Spring and it's called summer time, it sure goes seep into fall, by the first Sunday of November.

But, yes you lose sleep that one day, but the problem with modern industrial society, is that we follow clocks.  "Hey you, go to work at 8AM" no matter what its 8AM, so now you have to adjust do something you used to at 8AM now at the former 7AM because some jerk said it's 8AM now. It's pure stupidity.

Put your pitchforks down, those are for farmers, and by the way, farmers shouldn't be blamed for the suffering inflicted upon us. You see, farmers, work on their  own time. They use daylight yes, but the animals follow the sun, like humans used to do, until we decided that we'd rather not and wonder why things are screwed up.  Your cat, doesn't tell time, they don't care if you moved your clock up from 5am to 6am , they'll still meow at at you when they feel like it.   The farmers follow animal time, not your weird scheduling.   The vegetables and fruits don't follow time; corn doesn't need your stupid clocks.

It's called Daylight Saving Time (not savings, cut that out!) funny enough, you aren't saving energy. You're aren't. Kids have to go to school, schools use energy, moving the clock up one hour doesn't change the energy usage. They aren't holding classes outside, and still have to use electric lights. Going to work in your prison cubes? Your prision cube uses power and you still have to work the same amount of time in your prision cube.

Good work, Daylight Saving Time is both a lie in both saving you time and energy.  "But, I'm going outside more...because the sun is still up at 6:39PM" , In May, the sun would still be up at 6:39PM on year-round standard time, and two, no you aren't. Plus, if you are, which you aren't, you might be using your car, you are still using energy and the sun would still be up between April and October at 6:39pm in standard time.

"But I enjoy the sun being up at 8:02pm in July" , No you don't it's 88 degrees, the high was 99, what are you talking about?  If you do, I better see you out there, between 6-9pm , just be outside.  Most are inside wondering what they've done to deserve this hot death punishment. The sun going down at the standard time would be some relief from the death laser of the sun baking our internals as we wish for the sweet relief of death.

What? Oh yeah, every answer the pro-DST people can give is weak and flimsy like the gas milage of the 1992 Chevy Suburban. Also, "But we get more daylight in the evening" ah, but a later morning, when we still have people locked to time, yay!

It is good for business, that's right! Many of you use your "extra sunlight" not for sunlight stuff, but you go shopping so that everyone can see that you bought stuff with your money.  Like I said before, the sun would still naturally be up, because nature, and how everything is set up: at 7pm in the month of may,  doing in March when it's still slightly cold is just an excuse.

I could bring up the stuff you see all the time like Daylight Saving Time has increased car-accidents, but I'll give to the fact the weather changing, more people are out in general. The morning hours during the early months of DST also don't help because of that locked time you have to do, but it still being dark, and yet, the functions of society pretend this makes sense. Heart Attacks, but the problem there is that there's bad sleeping habits in our society and more stress , and Daylight Saving time doesn't help that in it's first few weeks.

The drudgery of having to adjust and some saying "you should get over it" as you are being gaslighted into being told the old 7am is 8am now, when you know it's 7am.

What I am for, is not year-round Daylight Saving Time, let me be clear. Daylight Saving time is the time where the clocks get set hour head on the 2nd Sunday in March and ending on first Sunday in November, which is the return of Standard time. If you see time as EDT (Eastern Daylight Time, only use that between those months) otherwise between November and March it would be EST (Eastern Standard Time). I don't think we need year-round daylight saving time. I am for year-round standard time and the revocation of daylight saving time  altogether.

Now, if a state like Florida or somewhere finds benefit in having DST, then a state or city/county can decide, but I want standard time as the standard. You set the clock back one last time in November and never look back (ironic), in March, the clock stays the way, the Sun and Earth will do it's thing and we don't have to worry. States like Arizona and Hawaii (mostly) don't observe DST, and live  in standard time. (They are not on year round DST)  They are doing fine, Hawaii still has summer visitors, and Arizona still has a low of 91 degrees in the summer time.

Really, the concept shows how much unnecessary things we have in our society and the idea of getting rid of it makes sense. America has a bad sleep problem already, it would be better if we had investments in making it better for Americans to have healthier sleep and conducive society, instead of a clock change that doesn't do anything of use. It's mostly built on false promises and promotions.

So yes, I'm against Daylight Saving Time, I'm against year-round Daylight Saving Time, I'm against it starting so early, and in March. I'm for year-round standard time fully. I don't like proposals that make it year-round DST ,promoted as a solution to the change pain. I think they are promoted that way to make sure people don't notice and would rather do anything to get rid of a time change, instead of clarity.

Maybe one day, foolishness could take a holiday for a moment and we have a thought to get rid of this slightly meaningless thing. It's not the biggest problem in our society, but it's the little things. Also, if you think this post is a joke, future reader, I'm going to haunt you.

Christmas Posting 2021: #2:You killed the Aluminum Christmas tree, Charlie Brown

 Christmas  History

The concept of the artificial Christmas tree has been around for a few centuries as much as the true triumphant return of Christmas as a concept.  Thankfully, this post is not about real vs. artificial Christmas  which a debate created to divide us.

Artificial Christmas trees have been made of different materials over time such as feathers, most now are made of PVC plastic.  We are going to talk about a very specific kind of treat, the aluminum tree.

You are sitting and watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" which was made in 1965, and something odd is mentioned: that being an aluminum Christmas tree, you sit there puzzled and wonder "is that some weird joke?  Christmas trees made of metal?"

These metallic trees were real and they existed. (redundant to make a point)  They were the first artificial trees to not be sold in green, which is interesting since you can get artificial trees in any color you want. (Like red to make you think it's on fire!)  They were first introduced in 1955. They were popular in the 1960's (because the 1960's were weird, this is going to offend someone) The trees were made of aluminum and some were aluminum coated paper which if you do math, is not the best idea.

The What if.... Campaign

Opinion
By Mark T , guest writing for Croglog
email us mychiller@inbox.com
The Political Season , has it's conventions and the debates are about to start  we've had this long period of candidates  attacking and promising.   We suffer under the political ads that torture on TV, Radio and internet.  We make the joke that politicians  lie , and that they probably do.
What if a politician ran a campaign differently ? How ? You may be asking.  Many campaigns are built on promises  , " When ( Very confident) I am elected president i will ....(insert something here)". 3 things usually happen if that person wins , a. they work on the promise, b, they forget about it  c, they try it and it fails.  Most of the time B happens the most.  Let's say I would do it more like this  "When you elect me your President I will work hard on trying to get ... (insert something here) , it may not happen but there's nothing wrong with trying." It's the truth that sometimes a promise by a president can fall short, yet still showing positivity   for something that may not happen.
Campaigns get dirty . We are used to these attack ads on TV where the deep voice says for example "  This Candidate  caused  the  great tuna disaster when they were  governor of tuna ( this is just an example people)  would you vote for this person because  he caused thousands of people to  be injured by defective cans?" Attacking the other candidate is what always happens , dig up their past  try to relate it to the future. " This Governor caused his state to have  a deficit think what he will do to the country"  That kind of thing , trying to make you think "Hey, if he can't run a state how can he run a country?" Most cases attacks are  the candidate wanting you to like them more than the other person. What they are really saying is " I told my dear mother when I was 8 , I want to be president of the United States. I should be the President"  That would probably be the honest thing to say. Attacking the other candidate is really like other adverting.  " Joe's Fords has more Fords at better prices than Jim's Fords". They both are selling Fords but  Joe's wants you to come to them and makes Jim's not look that good.    Human Emotion is what you play with.  What if , campaign  has not figured out away to get rid of attacks , many candidates have tried to play the positive person , but at many a time they have to go negative.  But a nice way to be negative : "I might like the other candidate they seem very nice , but if they were president they might cause (insert something bad here) ."  See an honest opinion but still kind of negative.
Endorse me ,would you?   Let's say  there was a candidate let's him  Ed , he's running for President , and for now he's going through a primary in his party,  then there's a former president (ooh lucky) , named John (they don't have last names)  he is well loved by his party and voters in that party. That's great!  So maybe Ed thinks that if he got John's endorsement it would help in his party. It's like a famous person endorsing a credit card ( since when to famous people use credit cards?).  The company thinks "Hey, we  got this big celebrity endorsing our product will have millions getting our high interest card." Many times this works on some people. (Think Oprah endorsed stuff) So let's say Ed and John have a slight difference in a political issue  such as, Ed  thinks that yellow lights on traffic lights should be done away with , just read and green (Merry Christmas) , John thinks that  yellow should stay. Although this difference ( that would be a great hot-button issue)  could affect John giving Ed a much needed endorsement  they find a common  agreement : They both want traffic lights. Unlike the other candidate in the party running against John who thinks traffic lights need to go. ( Maybe he had to many tickets?)   In my what if campaign there's not much I would change on that.

THE OP-ED heard and history around it [Opinion and Review]

Opinion | Guest Commentary
By Matthew K writing for Mychiller
In 2008 Mitt Romney wrote an op-ed for the New York Times ,  about the auto companies, the American auto-makers who were begging for a bail-out at the time.  This happened too:
         From CNN
Some lawmakers lashed out at the CEOs of the Big Three auto companies Wednesday for flying private jets to Washington to request taxpayer bailout money.
That was Novemember 19th 2008 when that article came out.
From the New York Times :
The Senate on Thursday night abandoned efforts to fashion a government rescue of the American automobile industry, as Senate Republicans refused to support a bill endorsed by the White House and Congressional Democrats.
That was December 11th 2008.
From ABC NEWS , also on December 11th 2008.
Even if TARP funds are made available to the Big Three, would that save the automakers from bankruptcy, or just delay it?
As yes what a good question  if  GM and Chrysler got the  TARP bail out, would that delay it ? T.A.R.P , if you forgot what it was , was the bank bailouts of 2008 under President Bush. It cost $787 billion dollars of Tax-payer money.

[OPINION] Maybe the Republicans don't want to win

OPINION
By Robert E writing for mychiller
Poor Mitt Romney. He lost 2008 after really really wanting to win  he then  worked from 2009 to try again building up a money support and everything else. He was called a great conservative by many  Republican top people and everyone who was mad about John McCain losing 2008 election. To Mr. McCain's defense it wasn't his fault , now President Obama  had a stronger base and there was an anti-republican mood after President Bush.  Many conservatives are looking for one of their own to run this time, and Romney is not their own.
They beckoned to Mitt Daniels or Chris Christie (They are NOT going to RUN and I am not surprised). They then test tried the Michelle Bachmann  she ran great from the start, but like Newt Gingrich they found another, Rick Perry. He was the conservative dream until  some debates where he failed so all aboard the "Cain-Train" cost 9-9-9.  They went to Gingrich , and now Rick Santorum. They forget Ron Paul , who if anything is the only true conservative. True Conservatives who care about fiscal  issues don't want to go to war with everyone they don't like. But get back to what I am saying this shopping spree is not kind of showing me something... they don't want to win the White House.
NO, I am not trying to say they should go to Romney if they know what's best for them.  I am really saying that they don't wanna win the White House. Maybe they wanna keep the house and get the senate under the control. In 2016 , if Obama is a second term, it's an open-election and that would be best.  Is that their secret thought? They can't trust Mitt Romney , Newt Gingrich and  Rick Santourm scare people ( I am not a liberal if you are thinking I am) . Ron Paul is denounced by the conservatives because they think he's an isolationist, for note isolationism means you don't want to be bothered with rest of the world  at all. Dr. Paul is a non-interventionist , he  wants to trade with other countries but not blow them up because they gave you a fun look.

[OPINIONS] MItt Romney and his Faith , The School Lunch Police

Opinion Straight Forward
By John R ( a guest writer for mychiller)
I sometimes hear people say that they wouldn't vote for Mitt Romney because he is  a Mormon. I  kind of get  shocked by hearing that, I plainly  think that I don't care Mitt Romney is a Mormon it's his right to believe whatever he wants to to believe. When choosing a president I don't care about  what the worship or how they do it , or what their faith is.  I care about what will the do for this country ? How will they take care of the issues that we have ?  I think that we really have lost our minds to think that if you vote for a Mormon the Church of Latter Day Saints  will dictate to him, that would be like thinking that you vote for a Catholic president , the Pope will dictate to him what he should do.
Mitt Romney's faith is his own and he follows his. He is not going to try to inflict his faith on others and how he rules. Massachusetts has not become a state of the Mormon world has it? It's the same he when he got in there.  Vote on where they stand on the issues not a crazy I don't agree with their religion type thing.

Agree by Mary S ( emailed us from mychiller@inbox.com )
I agree that schools shouldn't have a food police telling our kids what to eat. I Have nothing against food being healthy but it's my job not the government to tell me. That school was wrong  to confuse that poor girl  and really implying that her mother was stupid. It's sick.  I really don't think that food police have  the place in schools being paid by tax dollars.

THE Gop change over [Opinion]

Opinion
  By Carl Johnson for mychiller
Former Penn. Senator Rick Santorum won in 3 states last night , now the news media has made the story more about Romney not winning , but I am going to take this my way.  Newt Gingrich lost more  this is something , the fight has been who has more clout to beat Mitt Romney in the GOP.  Mr. Gingrich has been saying it was him , who could do it and debate the current president, he used every debate for his advance. (OK, not the last two Florida debates). The question for Newt is , he really the person people want to be  a nominee or the president? "Likability polls" show that Newt is not well liked by a lot of people ,Mitt Romney is not liked by conservatives , but  is liked by moderates (kind of) , Ron Paul is the only other candidate with a high favorable number.
Newt Gingrich , I know his campaign was considered dead 3 times already, but when he gets ahead  he screws up (pardon my ways) , and with that he can say will run through August , but he doesn't have the power too  if he doesn't win alot.  He will be going to Tampa ... for  a visit to the convention but not to cause trouble ... if he cares about his party and no matter who wins his party's nomination.
I do think there maybe one more Mr.Gingrich surge  it depends on how he acts for how it to go. Mitt Romney also needs to humanize himself and try to be himself . Play offense with his rivals not defense .

It happened 10 years ago: remembering 9/11:

We remember  the words hearing the sky in New York city was a perfect crisp blue and the sun was shining . only then to be blackened by a the World Trade center being attacked by hi-jacked planes. How have we as Americans gone in the past few years. Remember that feeling of being sad on that day, but hope prevailed and people  started acting like people should. Hateful act so wrong so murderous was met with sadness, hope and revenge. Over 3000 people died and the New York skyline was changed  a great hole was left literally and in people's hearts. For many it's not hard to forget this event and what it brought. Terrorism was the word of this new century now,  We shouldn't fear we should learn. We should never this day forget , but it's history now and will always be , time goes on. For those families who lost them it's a painful day by day remembrance.

Opinion by Semma Lennox : American government wants it's hit

Opinion BY Semma Lenox for Croglog

The American government wants it's hits. As tries to figure out how to raise the debt ceiling and save that good credit rating of it. America does not deserve a good credit rating it has. If any person had debt like this , they could not raise their debt ceiling so they can go on spending or they won't have a good credit rating.
Making cuts has been called evil you are going to throw grandma over a cliff and make her work till she's 90. Which is false. Making cuts is moral obligation to our later generations. The government has been spending too much over. It's Former President Bush's fault and Current President Obama's fault. The Liberals and Democrats want to raise taxes, wait a second they make about $2 trillion dollars a year from taxes so what the heck are doing with it? They need their fix of more money to waste and that's not what we need. America's government is an addict they need their hit of money and we need to get them into rehab.

The Republican Change

Politics  make a decision 2012  Opinion  Strategy
By Robert G for mychiller news
As the 2012 election campaign has pretty much started it surprises me to find a different Republican Party from before. Back in 2008 they were defending the Iraq war much like in 2004 . War-hawk , John McCain became  the nominee for his party in 2008. President Obama when he was still a candidate was being the "anti-bush" man he wanted to make sure you associated John McCain with Former President Bush. He said he was going to close "Gitmo" but it's still open. He said he was going to end the Iraq war , there are still American troops there, he also expanded how many are in Afghanistan and now involved in Libya.  Republicans in congress and the candidates are now  saying get out of Libya and the other places because it costs too much. A change has been made alright. Sunday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was fearing his party is become an isolationist party, sounds like 1900's there. I think that is a good move all these going into conflicts doesn't help the United States in the long run .

Opinion: She still is not going to run

Opinion by John Werth for mychiller news
Sarah Palin is doing a bus tour, that means she's going to run!  I said a couple of weeks ago that Mrs.Palin will not be running for the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2012 , I still say that.  Sarah Palin who may have the taste for the Presidency in 2009 may have lost it  in the few months. She is now doing books , tours, and TV.  She may rather be wanting to have a TV show or a radio show or better yet she may be a person who brings donors to the  Republicans helping other candidates run and show how conservative they are. She's been torn apart by the media in the past couple years , What do you think they would do if she was a presidential candidate?

Make A decision 2012: Opinion : Why Hucakbee chose not run for president, and Sarah Palin probaly won't on't

Opinion  Make a Decision 2012
BY John Werth  for Mychiller News
Mike Huckabee announced , Saturday, that he was not running for President, I am not surprised by that. Think about this he is  a TV star now and he wants to do daytime tv soon, I would think. He said his heart was saying do it run for president. But really ? No just as much as Trump was not ever going to run for president  , the TV networks wasted their time. Why money? He does two things run a business , and be  TV star. Huckabee is making more money, speaking and doing TV then he would be as president.  Now to Sarah Palin, why do I think she's not going to run.  Fox News Channel has a slot opening up soon? Seriously , though she's making more money as the former governor of Alaska.   She's working on TV shows and writing books , being a political anylist so why be President? It's less fun. Get the point they aren't running because of stardom , many things changed since 2009.

Opinion : I wanna see a body

By Darina for myhiller news
Dear people who wanna see Osama's body,
What is wrong with you , you wanna see the body of a dead man on your TV and on line? President Obama said something very smart yesterday not to drag a body out like a trophy. I do not support Mr.Obama on many things but this time I agree. That is something he did , his followers cheering the deaths on 9-11 and showing bodies of people he and his people killed. He and his group cheered after the deaths. He was an evil man , I don't wanna seen an evil man on TV dead or alive. Someone told me that the body should be  seen because it would show that this is what you do if you mess with the United States. Sarah Palin tweeted something close to that. That's great don't mess with us is your message, maybe they shouldn't brag about their doing , to show the world that we can act with some class even if we kill someone who is  a murderer that we don't brag about it and not show the body.

Opinion: OBAMA'S Big Mistake

OPINION
Opinion for Croglog by Lewis O. ( A contributor to croglog , his views don to represent the views of Croglog)
President Barark Obama tried to give his reasoning for the “No Fly zone” military action in Libya, A reason that was good to interfered in the affairs of another country that was not interfering with another country. A good reason to try to knock a leader out power of said country. I checked my calendar and made sure it wasn't 2003, it sure sounded like it was 2003. “Well Gadaffy is killing is own people”, some try to reason as answer. Mr. Obama and his crew tried to make a reason of why they are sending our streched military to Libya. They are helping people called the rebels , we don't even know who they are ,they could be terrorists groups and we helping people with out full information.

Opinion: Don't interfere in Libya

James  M.- A mychiller contributor   Opinion
Wrote this piece his views do not represent the views of mychiller-croglog  his views Represent his own views.
The protesting in Libya over  Gaddafi , who led the country for 41 years , is getting a  crackdown by the supporters of the dictator. The U.N froze his assets, last month. Talks of no-fly zones and invasion , is haste. The man is crazy. It's sad to see what he is doing  but at the same time if we try to fix it he could probably go crazy and do unthinkable things. The situation is delicate  and needs to be treated carefully , the risks. The Pros and cons of what invasion or no fly zone means.  We should learn about thinking hasty doesn't work as well we have examples of that in chances of crisis. Just as in Egypt , what will happen shall happen and  less people will die if we don't interfere in my own mind.

Shame on you : Abc News ?

Written by Terry of mychiller.com

Abc News paid for an interview with the accused Casey Anthony , the one in court for the murder of her daughter allegedly, they paid $200,000. Something strange to me thought they fired 400 staffers about 2 weeks ago to save money . Though Abc Said :"In August 2008, we licensed exclusive rights to an extensive library of photos and home videos for use by our broadcast platforms, affiliates and international partners," "No use of material was tied to any interview."

The payments were revealed Thursday in an Orange County, Fla., court proceeding, which was concerned with whether Anthony can be declared indigent and thus receive a taxpayer-funded defense.

Well then Shame on you ABC!  Don't pay for interviews you are  not  In touch magazine.  Because you pay for an interview you are tainting the news and not making it good for journalism. Don't do it again!!

Opinion: Toyota's big problem by Mary of mychilleropinion

Where in the world has this gone on too? Toyota is suffering badly now due to their safety problems  that have even caused hearings , I don't know how hearings help anything , many cars and models from Toyota and Lexus have been recalled to due to accelerator and break problems . Now my why is the government going to anything about this problem? Hopefully no because they would screw it up but then at that same time is Toyota credible anymore? Why should they be considered creditable? Now to make a decision but you have to tell Toyota yourself you are dissatisfied with Toyota then don't buy a Toyota.  We can do as many hearings as we want government but if  people get hurt by this it won't work out. Face it , we may have caused this ourselves we wanted cars that were energy smart and wanted cars that had  a way to use the time when you are stopped to power up your car. These are powered by computers and computers have glitches. So really why would I want a hybrid car if they can't it right?

Opinion: Tiger woods do I care?

A specail piece by Terry of mychiller opinion

I am deciding to write about a sports story this time but really why do we care so much about what the heck Tiger woods does? Ask 3 questions the media should also think of. 1. Does this effect me? 2. Why is this important? 3. Would you want this reported if it was you? Now time to apply these. Does Tiger woods' recent scandals effect me? Well No not me I was not in the accident or nothing of my mine was destroyed. Why is this improant? Tiger Woods is important to me what he does unless he killed someone the only persons this is important too is Tiger Woods and his family. Would I want this if it was me to be all over the news. To report someone's mis comings of adultery is in my word is wrong because it's a private matter for him and his family. So why does we need to talk about the Tiger woods scandal? It's not effecting me or you so really that's why it's just plain wrong. And to the media think about these 3 things.

Does a war on Christmas mean?

A special Opinion piece by Mychiller Opinion Writer Mary

As Christmastime nears  the time of the year where's there's a fight over Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. Every year you see fights over displays of Navity scenes and word of Christmas or Holidays. Does it really matter? If you celebrate Christmas then Say Merry Christmas. If you want to have a  Christmas Scene then you have the right to one. The same point that Someone who celebrates Hanukkah can say Happy Hanukkah and if he says it someone who celebrates   Christmas that person can say Happy Hanukkah or Merry Christmas to him. The question is why do we fight every year over Holiday or Christmas or What ever? We should learn use what the season means to have joy, peace on earth. I say Merry Christmas but I don't get all angry over someone who says Happy Holidays to me. It's to much to get into a fight over something so minor. So to say that. Merry Christmas to you.
